I cannot wait for the new collection. Spring seems to me to be their better runway show every year. I need a new pair of Dsquared jeans pronto. The fit is always unparalleled and the worn-in detail make their jeans ready-to-wear with any basic tee for a cool, casual look.

BOTTEGA VENETA

Not since Dsquared's Spring 2007 show have I been so excited! I just fell in love with the entire Spring 2010 Bottega Veneta show and I want it all for myself. This brand has been on the rise and rise for me for a while now and it's swiftly becoming one of my favorites. And here are my picks for Spring 2010:

This one in particular is my favorite (although the colouring is similar to what Prada was doing last year, wasn't it?) and I think it was executed beautifully. I Love every item individually and together!

What I wore... today: Black and Brown and Grey

Photobucket

A little while ago I posted a picture of on-screen fashionisto Chuck Bass actor Ed Westwick. He was wearing black and brown and I noted that I liked the style of combining those colours. Granted it wasn't the best picture which my readers didn't approve of, so in lieu of finding some other random celebrity to show you, here I am in today's outfit post. I combined Grey, black and brown and I quite like the mix. It's raining like mad outside so just imagine my scarf and umbrella, both of which are soaked!

Dolce and Gabbana Spring 2010

Large flashy lapels, rolled up trouser legs and the normal army of tan and muscle appeared on stage at the Spring 2010 Dolce and Gabbana show. So while our Italian brothers release many of the expected looks , i.e pajama silk, glimmering dinner jackets and sockless models they included a few looks which take me immediately to how I imagine Sicilian men walked around in the 1940's.

With regards to the rolling up of some looks may the reader keep in mind that 3/4 pant legs without a roll of some kind are still not favorable.

Here are my picks (with the above mentioned as my favorite) for Dolce and Gabbana Spring 2010:

p.s Am I seeing this right, did D&G give the models clutch purses to carry?

Burberry Prorsum Spring 2010

MAN OF THE CLOTH PICKS: BURBERRY SPRING 2010

There are some things one naturally expects in life. Death, taxes and the classic soft lines and simplicity of Burberry design. Most of the show included midnight blue trousers paired with soft pastel hues of Burberry's own take on the straight jacket, or in this case jumper. The show included many of the signature looks but did however include some unexpected parka's and jackets in Primary Red, Yellow and Blue! Striking indeed. The second half of the show was far more riveting in my opinion. The leather rucksack is also particularly nice looking! My friends at Burberry will have to help me out with that one!

HOT SPOT

Last night I had dinner at the wonderful, eclectic, old-worldly Boo Radley's in Hout Street. The food is fusion, the music is classic and the crowd is so mixed you'll love it as much as I do. Definitely worth even just having a drink at the bar. Love- the checkerboard flooring and the booths!

Paul Smith taking 'GREEN' fashion to another level

Photobucket

The ever innovative designer Paul Smith has taken a tongue-in-cheek stab at going green. He just unveiled his latest use of his favorite animal, the Rabbit as a way to fool the 'adult' into throwing away rubbish in a fun way. The ears light up every time you throw something in it.

The ‘New London Rubbish Bin’ will be popped up in Covent Garden and Holland Park for a four-month trial period from 28th May. The giant rabbit bins, with ears that light up when anyone puts rubbish in them, are Paul Smith’s contribution to Super Contemporary – an exhibition which opens on 3rd June 2009 at the Design Museum.

The ‘New London Rubbish Bin’ is just one of the intriguing responses to a challenge to several of London’s most successful designers to give something back to London – the city that has inspired so much of their work.

“I was pleased to be asked to be involved in the Super Contemporary exhibition at the Design Museum,” says Paul Smith. “I must admit I found it quite challenging, because in any city there are always so many things you love and so many things you don’t and so many things you want to improve. I tried to keep my idea simple and hopefully interesting – I am always amazed how bad people are about litter and how they are so thoughtless. My exhibit is hopefully a tiny step towards making people be better with their rubbish.”

Although Paul’s 5ft-high rabbit bins are intended to be a bit of fun, they still point a brightly coloured finger, or paw, at a serious problem. Every day, the equivalent of 100,000 dustbin bags of rubbish land on the capital’s streets.
Super Contemporary will showcase a wide range of commissions which have also been designed to make London life a little better or more contemporary – from new bus shelters to new uniforms for the ‘Beefeaters’ at the Tower of London." -- www.paulsmith.co.uk

This is precisely the leather jacket I'm after. I've been thinking about it ever since I saw Ashley Olsen wear a biker jacket over a gown at a premiere. Then soon after I watched Shia Lebeouf wear the mens version in "Indiana Jones". Then just yesterday I was watching a Lady GaGa short on Mtv and her male backup dancers were wearing them too. It's gotten me pretty decided on getting my own now.

I think that David Archuleta has the one I reeeeally want from "RRL" below, although I must see if I can source it:

I'm only hoping that this jacket doesn't become one of those "trends" that everyone wears and then I'm stuck with a good quality jacket I can't/won't wear like in the case of my Wayfarer Ray bans!

Just because you can, don't!

I got the kilt, I even got the Doc Martin-esque boots that Marc Jacobs was styling in recent months, but this new (what is this Thom Brown?) look for Marc's new beau Lorenzo Martone just isn't working for me. It's the floppy hat that pushed me over the edge. In South Africa that hat carries a serious offense!

I thought being engaged to one of Fashions leading men was supposed to help? Sorry maybe it's just the pleats.

I've been waiting to see Hermione as a Burberry spokesgirl, I always knew she would be hot on the fashion scene and Burberry was certainly the right choice for brand association. Plus I always love the campaigns Burberry release. One of those famous trench coats are big on my wishlist.

The new Burberry Autumn Winter 2009 advertising campaign featuring actress Emma Watson and was shot in the heart of Westminster, adjacent to the new Burberry Global Headquarters on Horseferry Road in London.

Black and Brown

Photobucket

Black and Brown are not often paired successfully. It is the sort of look that one needs to take care in executing because it can either work well, or not at all.

What are your thoughts?

Must see!

I couldn't help but show you this video if you haven't already seen it. Seriously, it's HUH-LARIOUS! Only connection to fashion is perhaps the Thom Brown-esque school outfits. Please watch!
