The argument has always been that women's wear on any level is abundantly available. Men on the other hand have had to suffer the likes of Edgar's menswear or Truworths. I'm sure their 'designers' are reproducing whatever will sell in say, Durbanville or smaller towns across South Africa. But in 2009 men want more than pleats and horizontal striped golf shirts. It's sad is what it is.
Until Country Road and Trenery walked in.
BASICS -- ladies and gentleman. That's all we wanted. To be able to walk into a local store and buy something that isn't fuddy-duddy or outdated. It's no wonder the majority of men in South Africa dress the way they do. They are too scared to branch out and try new things because no one else is trying it either. All they see are the skinny jean, hair in your face Emo kids contrasting their shorts and tee look.
I think Trenery and Country Road menswear will help with that shift in mindset. Now all we need is a
non-South African produced H&M or TopShop and our boys will be good to go. Inside you will find great leather goods, shoes and boots, basic coats and nice denims in fashionable fits, all for a great price.
Good Job Woolies! Trenery now available in Canal Walk also.
