For years we waited for international brands to house themselves in our malls and on trendy street corners. International clothing looks better and is made better too, surely. Not true. In the past few years South African design has made its presence known and now it's time to turn our focus onto South Africa. In walks WOZA, an initiative that hopes to bring attention to local design and manufacturers and in turn help an industry of very talent individuals thrive.
WOZA which stands for WEAR ONLY ZA, is a Cape Town Fashion Council initiative and is funded by the Department of Economic Development & Tourism in the provincial government in the Western Cape. They invite you to add your voice and in turn get access to the latest in South African fashion plus great discounts, vouchers and competitions. I was at the launch this morning and while I own some pieces that are locally made I need to make an effort to buy more and so should you!
In addition to this they encourage you to show off your locally made duds via their Facebook page or website in WOZA WHO'S GOT IT MADE. Buy cool gear, support a cause and claim a prize. How much easier could it be?
